A former acute care facility in Missouri will be converted into a mental health, skilled nursing and intensive outpatient complex that will serve adults, children and seniors, according to the St. Louis Post Dispatch. The selling price was just $13.

Sharo Shirshekan, a senior-care management firm owner, purchased the 43,000-square-foot Mineral Area Regional Medical Center, which reportedly is in need of extensive upgrades because of asbestos and mold according to the Post Dispatch. In 2007, the company operated by Shirshekan was found guilty of negligence surrounding an elderly patient’s death in 2004 and paid $2.5 million in punitive damages.

The facility was previously owned by not-for-profit BJC HealthCare.
