A Mississippi addiction treatment program originally established by a group of recovering physicians has become the latest acquisition of fast-growing Elements Behavioral Health, whose other facilities include prominent names such as Promises Treatment Centers, Clarity Way and Right Step.

COPAC, located outside of Jackson, Mis., began as an extended-care facility but now includes detox, primary treatment and outpatient services. Its CEO, Stacy Hughes, said in a Sept. 11 news release that Elements had approached COPAC executives more than a year ago and that the COPAC team concluded that Elements could provide it with clinical, marketing and financial resources that had been out of its reach.

The 35-year-old COPAC occupies a 23-acre campus with gender-separate residences. It includes tracks for the treatment of eating disorders, sexual compulsivity, compulsive gambling, and impairment among professionals.
