Shutter Island

Hollywood is fascinated with psychiatric hospitals, and I usually am disappointed by how they are portrayed on the silver screen--usually as sinister, dark places, holding violent, uncontrollable patients tended by uncaring staff. That's what I suspect we'll see in the new movie Shutter Island. The movie is based on a book of the same name; the description on the back seems to play up every stereotype of psychiatric hospitals. It's sad that in the 21st-century our society still exploits the mentally ill to create b-rate entertainment.
