Like most states, Illinois is in a severe budget crisis—with huge implications for behavioral healthcare providers. Some have been waiting for Gov. Rod Blagojevich to get out of the picture, as he was being investigated by the feds for alleged hiring fraud. With his days now numbered after allegedly trying to sell Obama's open Senate seat, one nonprofit behavioral healthcare executive in the Land of Lincoln told me:
It is a GREAT day in IL. I had late last March as indictment day in the pool, but lost. Blago lasted a long time. I am more optimistic than I have been in the past 6 months about the opportunity to get public MH back on track in IL. We are in tough shape these days.
