Former congressman and behavioral health advocate Patrick Kennedy presented the plenary session on the last day of the National Council's 2013 conference in Las Vegas. He reminsiced about the field's many accomplishments over the past 50 years since his uncle, President John F. Kennedy, passed the Community Mental Health Act of 1963. He also layed out areas where the field could improve, including children's mental health screening and prevention.
