Rebecca Cooper, LMFT

Rebecca's House - Eating Disorder Treatment Programs

Rebecca Cooper is an international speaker whose mission is to create awareness of disordered eating in all forms. She regularly appears on television, webcasts, professional conferences, and radio. Ms. Cooper created the first transitional living residence for eating disorders, a 501.c3 non-profit organization in addition to Rebecca's House Eating Disorder Treatment Programs in Orange County, CA.

She is a licensed therapist and Certified Eating Disorder Specialist and iaedp approved Supervisor. She authored the "Diets Don’t Work®" book, CDs, DVDs, eating disorder workbooks, and numerous published articles. Her eating disorder program is used throughout the country at treatment centers and by therapists. 


Robert Pfeifer, MSW

Robert Pfeifer is a pioneer in the field of young adult specific treatment.  Starting in 1988 he was a founding member and director of numerous clinical programs for the first west coast division of Covenant House International, the nations’ largest adolescent and young adult service provider. It was during this time that he returned to California State University at Long Beach to obtain his Masters Degree in Social Work.

His thesis on “HIV Rates Among Homeless Youth in Hollywood” was published in the Journal of Adolescent Health.  Additionally, he was featured in numerous news stories and features by CNN, the Wall Street Journal, 48 Hours, local news stations, NY Times, Los Angeles Times and many others.

Robert continued his work over the next eight years in the therapeutic and emotional growth boarding school industry, which also includes wilderness programs.  Robert’s success led him to venture out on his own in 2000, when he began assisting numerous programs and professionals in the development of their enterprises.  Specifically, he was responsible for bringing young adult chemical dependency treatment programs to the forefront of national and international attention.  

In 2005, Robert Pfeifer’s founding of Sober College was the culmination of over 18 years of work with young adults in the field of education and chemical dependency treatment.   His program design and work is so innovative that “Sober College” was awarded a trademark by the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Sober College is the first and only provider to integrate substance abuse treatment principles into a WASC accredited curriculum of courses, resulting in a formal award of academic recognition.  In this case, a Certificate of Completion in General Studies from Woodbury University.  This integration of treatment and education is so noteworthy that it was covered in a June 10, 2010 article of Inside Higher Ed titled “College and Rehab Under One Roof.”

In the December 2013 issue of Treatment Magazine, Robert was referenced as “ … the leading private entrepreneurial figure in the key youth specialty addictions sub-market.”


Paul Del Vacchio

Paul Del Vacchio has over 25 years experience in the healthcare and hospitality industries.  Paul has experience in all facets of business development from marketing to finance to human resources to admissions.  He was an integral part in the expansion of American Addiction Center as the company went from a small regional substance abuse treatment provider to a national substance abuse treatment center located in five states.

Paul has served as a Financial Controller, CFO, Director of Human Resources and help develop a new business model for Las Vegas Recovery Center as their Vice President of Business Operations.  He has recently joined Above It All Treatment Center will lead their strategic development as the center will expand their services.  On a side note Paul is an avid runner having completed 19 marathons and he did run the Boston Marathon last year. He is planning on running this year’s event in April.


William McCormick, MBA

William McCormick is a highly experienced healthcare professional with comprehensive skills in strategic planning, sales, operational management and implementation. Throughout his professional career, he has demonstrated the ability to lead diverse teams of professionals to new levels of success in the highly competitive healthcare industry.  William has a proven ability to successfully analyze an organization’s critical business requirements, identify deficiencies and potential opportunities, and develop innovative and cost-effective solutions for enhancing competitiveness, increasing revenues, and improving customer service offerings.

With a master of Business Administration degree with a concentration in healthcare administration, “Bill” has traveled extensively serving clients in many facets of healthcare operations. Prior to entering the behavioral health industry, Bill operated one of Florida’s most successful medical equipment and home infusion pharmacy businesses which he sold to a national drug chain in 2002.

In the community, Mr. McCormick served as president of the Fort Lauderdale Branch NAACP where he championed the causes of justice, equality and job creation for local citizens. He was widely known as the civic leader who petitioned Governor Jeb Bush and received approval for the “first time in Florida’s history”, the extension of time for polls during the 2002 presidential election. William has been recognized by numerous organizations for his outstanding service and contributions throughout the United States and has recently been placed on the Florida Memorial University Board of Trustees.

Currently, William McCormick  serves as chief operating officer for Medivance Billing Service, where since his appointment, client net collections has exceeded over $160 million dollars.


Douglas J. Edwards, MBA
Publisher of Behavioral Healthcare

Douglas J. Edwards is Publisher of Behavioral Healthcare and Addiction Professional, having formerly served as editor in chief of both publications.  Edwards has been serving the addiction treatment community since 2000 in multiple editorial and marketing roles.  Edwards will serve as moderator of the discussion.
