For the fourth consecutive year, Timberline Knolls Residential Treatment Center's on-campus school, Timberline Knolls Academy, has been selected as a 2013/2014 School of Excellence by the National Association of Special Education Teachers (NASET).

The distinction is bestowed upon a few select qualified licensed private special education schools in the U.S. Selection as a NASET School of Excellence is the highest level of recognition a private special education school can achieve through the association. This honor is presented to schools that meet rigorous professional criteria and have demonstrated exceptional dedication, commitment and achievement in the field of special education.

Timberline Knolls Academy offers an educational program for adolescent girls and women who are recovering from anorexia, bulimia, or drug abuse. The program is centrally located next to the residential lodges and follows a quarter-based academic calendar. The Timberline Knolls Academy team includes master’s-level teachers, certified paraprofessionals in each class, and a principal who is also a learning behavior specialist and an Illinois Type 75 Administrator with Superintendent Endorsement in the state of Illinois.

"This award is really a testament to the incredible staff we have at the academy," said Carrie Finazzo, MEd, CAS, principal of Timberline Knolls Academy. "Each teacher is not only highly credentialed, they all have the heart and compassion that is critical to working in this setting."
