Shared decision making aid for depression receives MarCom award

Boston —Health Dialog received a platinum award in the 2011 MarCom Awards competition for its shared decision making aid titled "Coping with Symptoms of Depression.” The platinum award is the competition’s highest honor. Health Dialog's suite of medical decision aids covers a broad range of topics and is available online through the Health Crossroads portal and also on DVD. Collectively, Health Dialog's decision aids have been recognized with more than 50 awards in the past two years.

The decision aids are currently available to more than 18 million individuals and are disseminated as part of Health Dialog's broader care management programs, which include telephonic health coaching by specially trained healthcare professionals.

"Patients don't know what they don't know, so education and information is critica,” said Peter Goldbach, MD, Chief Medical Officer, Health Dialog. “The more this is recognized throughout the industry, the less acceptable it will be for patients to make decisions in the dark."

The International MarCom Awards recognizes outstanding creative achievement by marketing and communication professionals. The competition is one of the largest of its kind with more than 6,000 entries this year. Winners were selected from more than 200 categories in seven forms of media and communication, including marketing, publications, marketing/promotion, public service/pro bono, creativity, and electronic/interactive and range in size from individuals to media conglomerates and Fortune 50 companies.

Health Dialog also received gold awards for two more of its program, including "Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia: Choosing Your Treatment," and "Sleeping Better: Help for Long-term Insomnia."
