Atlanta — Magellan Health Services, Inc., was recently named one of Metro Atlanta’s Top Workplaces for 2011, according to a list published in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s April 17 issue. Magellan earned the distinction based on an employee survey administered in more than 100 workplaces throughout metro Atlanta that assessed qualities such as company leadership, training, workplace flexibility, diversity and compensation.

“Simply put, our employees are what make our company great, and Magellan is proud to be recognized as one of Atlanta’s top workplaces,” said Doug Bowes, vice president of commercial operations and general manager of Magellan’s Atlanta office. “Our employees are dedicated to providing the best in service, innovation and clinical excellence for our customers, and the pride we show in our work clearly translates into a positive working community.”

Magellan’s Atlanta office is home to 249 employees who comprise the company’s southeast care management center, leveraging their expertise to manage industry-leading behavioral health care services for Magellan’s members, employers and payors. The company provides a flexible, supportive working environment for employees, offering professional development, work-at-home opportunities, innovative employee wellness programs, and competitive compensation and benefits, as well as social and community activities to promote employee satisfaction and unity.

Magellan’s Atlanta employees participate in a variety of local community causes that support veterans and members of the military, children with special medical needs, the homeless community and people and families confronting mental illness.

“Magellan values and actively promotes a community of caring companywide – for our employees, customers, providers, partners and the communities in which we work and live. It defines our culture and distinguishes us in the marketplace,” said Caskie Lewis-Clapper, chief human resources officer. “We couldn’t be happier to see our Atlanta employees embodying our values everyday, cultivating the premier talent that makes Magellan an industry leader.”

The 22-question survey was conducted by Workplace Dynamics in partnership with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution between September and November 2010 among 166 workplaces in metro Atlanta with 50 or more employees. The full report is available at www.ajc.com.
