Tampa, Fla. — Comprehensive Care Corp. has announced the appointment of Dr. Susan Norris, former CEO of MHNet Behavioral Health, to serve as CompCare’s Senior Vice President of Operations, effective March 1.
A Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the State of Florida with 20 years of experience in the healthcare field, Norris most recently served as Senior Vice President of Operations for CompCare de Puerto Rico, Inc. (CCPR), where she helped to establish clinical operations for the company in Puerto Rico.
Prior to her work with CCPR, Norris held various leadership positions at MHNet Behavioral Health, a national leader in the behavioral healthcare industry with more than 400 employees in five regional offices.
This included serving as Vice President of Operations from 2001 to 2004, President from 2004 to 2010 and Chief Executive Officer of MHNet from 2008 to 2010. Under her executive guidance, MHNet built up profit margins to approximately 30%.
Norris was also a Senior Mental Health Clinician at Gutman Psychiatric Clinic from 1995 to 1998; and a counselor with New Directions Counseling Center from 1993 to 1995. She received her Ph.D. in Philosophy and Psychology from Walden University, and a Masters in Counseling and Human Development from Troy State University.
“Dr. Norris has done an exemplary job of facilitating significant growth for our clinical operations in Puerto Rico," said Clark A. Marcus, CompCare’s Chairman and CEO. "We expect that her vast amount of experience with Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial and employer group lines of business will add a tremendous amount of value to our outstanding team of top-level executives.”
Additional recent hires include Richard T. Wright, MHA, Gabriel Kaplan, MD, and Robert Siegel.
Wright was appointed as Compcare's Senior Vice President of Business Development in September 2010, bringing over 30 years of experience in healthcare. Prior to this position, he served as the Senior Vice President, Business Development for MHNet.
Kaplan joined CompCare's team as Senior Medical Consultant in late 2010, bringing more than 15 years experience as a healthcare consultant to insurance and pharmaceutical companies such as Cigna, Aetna, Value Options, Wyeth and Shire Pharmaceuticals.
Siegel was appointed president of the company’s Comprehensive Care Benefits, Inc. (CCB) subsidiary in January 2011, bringing over 22 years of experience as a sales and marketing executive in the insurance industry.
According to Marcus, attracting talented people to CompCare who possess the background and experience that are needed to grow the business has been one of the company's driving priorities for the past year.
"We believe these efforts have been successful, and we have now assembled a highly-developed and diversified team of industry leaders, each with individual track records of successfully achieving bottom-line results while spearheading operational improvements," said Marcus. "We believe this management team can, and will, drive CompCare towards the successful execution of its growth strategy through 2011 and beyond.”
