For the past month, Behavioral Healthcare has been following the mental health crisis developing in the Gulf. We reported on the effects felt by CMHCs in the area in our exclusive, BP negotiates mental health support in the Gulf, and have waited along with the industry to hear the negotiation’s results.

This week, BP finally released its response to Louisiana’s pleas and the rest of the states affected by the spill: It would provide $52 million in support, divided among SAMHSA, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida.

But is this enough? The HHS “welcomes” the funding, but says it will continue to work for more. Listen to the response from Gov. Jindal of Louisiana below, and tell us what YOU think in the comments section.
