Specialty behavioral health trade organization announces board election results

The Association of Behavioral Health and Wellness (Washington, DC), the organization representing eight of the nation’s specialty behavioral health and wellness benefits management companies, announces the election of its 2013 Board of Directors.

In 2013, the ABHW Board is chaired by Kyle Raffaniello, EVP and Chief Strategy Officer at ValueOptions, with John Quick, Ph.D. President & CEO of New Directions Behavioral Health, serving as Chair-Elect.  Sharon Duncan, CPA, the Executive Director of CBHNP/PerformCare, was elected Treasurer of the ABHW Board.  Another new board member is Joe Klinger, Esq., who is the Executive Counsel at MHN. Other ABHW Board members include Jay Roundy, M.A., D.P.A., who heads Public Sector Programs for Aetna Behavioral Health; Tim Murphy, the President and CEO of Beacon Health Strategies; Sam Donaldson, Ph.D., Cenpatico’s CEO & President; and Rhonda Robinson Beale, M.D. , the Chief Medical Officer of OptumHealth Behavioral Solutions.

The new board “will be actively focused on the significant behavioral health care policy issues facing both the federal and state governments as ACA implementation moves forward,” says Pamela Greenberg, MPP, the president and CEO of ABHW. In particular, the group will participate in efforts to define the ACA’s essential health benefit, Medicaid expansion, the implementation of parity for mental health and addiction treatment, and programs regarding “dual eligible” (Medicare/Medicaid) beneficiaries.
