(10/30/2009)
Press Release

Pasadena, CA — The master plan for Aurora Las Encinas Hospital, a private psychiatric hospital owned by Signature Health Care and located in Pasadena, Calif., since 1904, was approved by the Pasadena City Council.  The approval will allow Las Encinas to expand its hospital facilities, add senior housing, and improve its ability to serve patients.

The ten-year master plan for the 25-acre property includes new outpatient medical offices, a new psychiatric hospital, an assisted living facility, an independent living facility, and detached independent living units for seniors.

"The magnitude of this project demonstrates our long-term commitment to providing state-of-the-art, compassionate behavioral health care to our patients,” said Blair Stam, Executive Vice President, Signature Healthcare.

"This development project will not only increase patient access to psychiatric and chemical dependency treatment in the Pasadena area, it will provide additional assisted living and senior housing which is needed for our local community. The psychiatrists, psychologists, and addiction medicine specialists who practice at Las Encinas are among the best in our community and we plan to work closely with them as we proceed with the design and construction of our new facilities," Stam added.

“We are grateful to the Pasadena City Council and city staff, as well as numerous other organizations that worked closely with us in support of this project,” said Stam. “Our vision was to protect our historic buildings and grounds, while significantly improving our ability to serve our medical and professional staff and their patients. This plan will achieve these goals, and we are excited to be moving forward.”
